Four foreigners allowed in CPBL

Four foreigners allowed in CPBL
The CPBL will continue to allow three foreign players to be on the active roster. One will be allowed to be on the substitution list. The league has stated that, with the leave of such stars as Lin Ying Jeh (to the Rakuten Eagles of the NPB), this would keep the CPBL competitive.

The Makoto Cobras are moving closer to signing pitchers Jose Paniagua and Fernando Hernandez. The 32 year old Paniagua has eight years of Major League experience. The right hander is 18-21 with 13 saves and a 4.50 ERA in 356 ML innings. 34 year old Hernandez has pitched in the Majors with the Detroit Tigers. The Cobras also inked pitcher Melvin Cuevas for development. The 26 year old can throw a 90-92 mph fastball.

As for hitting, the Cobras will sign second baseman Amaury Garcia to provide the pop. He appeared in ten games with the Florida Marlins in 1999.

They were talking about letting Wilton Veras play in the 2006 season a month ago.

This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.

It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.
