1957 Japan Series

1957 Japan Series
Here's a mystery for you. On October 31, 1957, the 4th game of the Japan Series was called a 0-0 tie in the 10th inning because of darkness, but Korakuen Stadium had lights since the early 1950s. Why weren't they turned on?

Does anybody know?

I realize that this is an old thread, but I just need to add this.

What I say may not be correct, but as somebody who has been to about 50 baseball games in Japan -- and a number of them were ties --- they stop after a number of innings and/or time - because of the stoppage of the trains. People do not drive to the games, they take the trains, and the trains stop at about midnight. So they can't play any more than that.

Just saying.
