The Saitama Seibu Lions won their second straight one-sided game on Sunday afternoon, defeating China 11-1 in a World Baseball Classic warmup at Tokyo Dome.
"We knew ahead of time we'd be playing these games, and our young guys have put the pedal to the metal trying to make an impression," Lions skipper Hisanobu Watanabe said.
"But as far as our results against Japan and China, I don't think their squads are up to speed.
"I've been watching China play for the past three years since the time I was managing in the minors, and I think they've improved steadily. They have some guys who can get batters out with breaking balls, and that's new."
Takuya Hara and Yutaro Osaki, who starred in the Lions' victory over Japan the night before, opened the scoring in the third inning for the Japan Series champs off China starter Li Chenhao.
Hara doubled with one out and scored on a single by Osaki, who stole second and scored on Takumi Kuriyama's single. A walk and a double steal allowed Seibu to make it 3-0.
