This is a site about Pro Yakyu (Japanese Baseball), not about who the next player to go over to MLB is. It's a community of Pro Yakyu fans who have come together to share their knowledge and opinions with the world. It's a place to follow teams and individuals playing baseball in Japan (and Asia), and to learn about Japanese (and Asian) culture through baseball.
It is my sincere hope that once you learn a bit about what we're about here that you will join the community of contributors.

Doesn't this sound a little suspect to anyone, especially in light of the recent scandals in the MLB? Barry Bonds, the former Pirates leadoff man, was originally listed as 6'1" 185-pounds, but is now a home run hitting 228-pounds. Both men gained tremendous muscle and home runs, and yet I don't ever remember steroids as an issue in Japan. Is that because there are stringent rules in the NBP which make the point moot, or is it something that is never talked about? Either way I was just wondering what the consensus was, if any.
I do realize that Alex Cabrera underwent a similar transformation to home run hitting star, however the abnormal weight gain simply isn't there. Cabrera was listed as 217 pounds while playing for the diamondbacks, and only 100kg or 220.5lbs. Something doesn't seem right in Rhodes's explosion - in home runs or in weight.
Thanks.
